After 3 surgeries last year I was hesitant to give traditional archery a try. I contacted Jim and told him my, hopefully temporary limitations, and he suggested a lower poundage "super curve".  After looking at his latest bow design, which is a work of art, I gave it a go. I had a reservation that a 36# at 28" bow had the necessary pop, 41# at my draw length, to efficiently harvest game. I would soon be pleasantly surprised and amazed at how the super curve would perform. I harvested my first big game animal, a DIY black bear at 18 yards with one of Jim's 225 grain Big Game Heads. The blood trail was amazing, only covering 20 yards and the bow's efficiency delivered! My eleven year old son was with me making it even more special.  I will always cherish the experience of my first recurve harvest. Thank you Jim for building a great bow and encouraging me to make the jump to traditional. Your new bow design has no hand shock and is super efficient making up for my limitations. Thanks again, Chris

Jim, I shot my biggest buck to date with my Centaur longbow and a battle axe head. Can't say enough about the effectiveness of that bow/broadhead combo.
Complete pass through on a walking deer, shot through stomach and liver. He ran 30 yards and tipped over dead within 2 minutes. I didn't need the blood trail but there was a paint strip for the 30 yards he ran and the body cavity was full. I've never seen a liver shot deer bleed like that!

Thank you

Hey Jim,<br><br>Was talking to my friend Ryan who has that big moose on your page and he was saying you might like to see this. Drew a great tag last fall here in Colorado. I bought the bow used on stickbow a couple years ago so don’t know much about its history. The serial number is 00253. It held up through a fall I took off a cliff and roll through a scree field. I was worried that either I or the bow would be out of commission but luckily only a few big scratches on both.<br><br>Thanks for building a great product,

Hey Jim,<br><br>A few years back I bought a second hand triple carbon as a backup
to the bow you built for me way back. I never really hunted with it so I sold it to John Thornton to finance a new Bear Takedown. As you
know, he had you lay some copperheads on it and went to killin stuff with it. The takedown didn’t work out so I was back to just my faithful
Centaur which has been my go to for about 11 years. Well, you know the story, that Centaur I sold John just rocked his world and now he has
gone Centaur crazy. I sensed that this might be a chance to get that Centaur back so I petitioned him for it and he graciously let me have it
back. So this past year I began to shoot it more. The lower weight was more comfortable. I decided to hunt with it this year and it is working
out great! My first Centaur is the only bow I have ever taken animals with before this year and it has been pretty consistent year after year.
So this year I have managed to break the mold and take a couple of deer with my “backup”/now “go to” bow. I wont sell it again and create
another Centaur fanatic but I still tell fellow archers about them all the time. I am working on another one right now. Hopefully the pictures
of the two does I have taken in Mississippi will come though.<br>Keep up the good work and thanks for the good times.

I have a few great friends I hunt with that use modern compounds and crossbows and as you can imagine I take quite a bit of good natured heckling for my choice of hunting with traditionial equipment. So after a long day of hearing “ will that even kill a deer” or can you hit anything with that? It was sweet to have a big group of deer come by and make two quick clean kills (both under 40 yd recovery) to rub it in their faces.. We were doing slow pushes since the weather was so bad.. But instinctive shooting lends itself very useful in these kinds of conditions. They know I've taken lots of animals with my Centaur longbow, but they got to see it first hand yesterday. I shot both of those deer after they passed my buddies. They simply couldn't get there sights or scopes lined up fast enough. We took a total of 6 mature doe, and had one heck of a good time. After the hunt we all got together to butcher, grind, and vacuum pack the meat...Thanks for puting my photos on Memory Lane. Take care and best of luck to you and your family in 2014.<br><br>Michael Jonea

From receiving my initial bow just a few short months ago to help choosing a great arrow and broad head combination. With your expertise, I was able to bare shaft tune my carbon arrows and go with a similar two-fletch set up along with the awesome big game heads. I’ve had a pile of close calls this fall with deer and elk but had failed to fill any of my tags. Luck was shining down on me as a herd of elk worked past one of my favorite deer stands. I came to full draw with my 54 pound Centaur Chimera and hit this cow in the heart tight behind the shoulder with your wicked Big Game Head at 25 yards. Because of the large entrance and exit wound, she barely made it 40 yards. I was amazed how deadly your little stick and string weapons were on such a large animal. She expired in a few seconds for a quick, humane kill.<br><br>Thanks, Mike Prescott<br><br>Congrats Mike!

Centaur Longbows are Deadly!

Hi Jim,

I was shooting my 55# Bacote longbow, the second one you built for me. I spotted the bear walking down a game trail on a ridgeline and took up an ambush position behind a log that had fallen across the trail. The bear came up to the log and, as I’d anticipated, walked around the end of it. As he stepped around the other side I put a wood arrow tipped with a Magnus broadhead into his side from TEN FEET away. Luckily for me the bear spun around and ran back up the trail, but he only made it about 75 yards before he collapsed and died.

I estimated his live weight between 300 – 350 pounds. The taxidermist guessed his age at close to 20 years and said he’ll easily make the P&Y record book, and maybe even B&C as well.

Thanks for building a great bow!!

Hey, Jim… You build a great bow!

I shot the buck in Montana with one weird horn. I think I may have sent you that photo already. I shot a doe and this other buck in Texas! I’m off to Illinois to hunt again on the first. Keep making them this way
….THEY REALLY WORK!

Shooting a 53# Centaur Carbon Longbow

Hi Jim this is the doe I shot on Nov 4th at about 5:00 (the day after he received the bow). It was shot with a Centaur Carbon 62 inch longbow pulling 53# at 26". I just want to say that the bow is awesome and that your customer service is first class. Keep up the good work & thanks for everything!! I also want to say the shot was about 27 yards with a complete passthrough and the deer only ran about 15-20 yards before expiring.
Thanks again,

Chas Cypher.

Jim Neaves, my name is Jarrett Spears. You built me a Longbow (bocote) in 2005, and I really love this bow. I shoot at least three times a week, and enjoy every minute of my shooting time.
This is a picture of my first deer with traditional gear. He's just a little buck, but I couldn't be more excited. I shot him with the bow you built for me, and wood arrows I made myself. Unfortunately in Ohio you only get one buck, therefore, in November I had to let four bigger 8 point bucks walk under my stand.
When I'm ready for my next bow you'll be hearing from me. Hope to have more trophies with my bow "lonewolf" in the next year, our season ends on the last day of January.

Thank you sir. Have a happy holiday season.

Rick Stilman and a Buck he harvested with his Custom made Longbow

Hello Jim,

My Lil Mag is 58" and marked 56 lb @ 27". I draw 26" so I figure I'm getting about 53-54 lb.
It pushes a 600 gr arrow quite well. I bought this bow from Gordy at the Kalamazoo expo last January and have been shooting it since then. I have shot longbows for many years and have always preferred a Hill style or a Robertson. There was something about the newer short hybrids that intrigued me however, and I started looking at them seriously last spring. I shot many at a few shoots over the summer and the Lil Mag was a strong favorite. It's a great hunting tool and I think I'll be shooting it for quite a while. Jim Davis, who is looking to get his new Centaur Longbow sometime soon, lives just a few towns down the road. I'm looking forward to seeing it.
Best,

Rick Stillman
